Who We Are
East Bay Massage and Lymph Drainage is an in-home clinical massage service dedicated to providing quality therapeutic massage and manual lymphatic drainage. Natural, hands-on techniques are used to reduce tension and pain, decrease inflammation, relieve stress and improve circulation to achieve greater ease of movement with increased range of motion and improved posture. Each session is tailored to meet the client’s specific preferences and goals.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is used to improve circulation, increase flexibility and treat muscle pain, injury and stiffness. Deep tissue, trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques are utilized in a therapeutic massage session. Deep tissue involves slow, deep strokes that break up adhesions within the muscle tissue and allow for less-restrictive movement of the muscle. Trigger points are tense nodules within the muscle that are painful when touched and cause pain, numbness, tingling, or headaches to other parts of the body. Trigger point therapy releases these areas of tension with sustained pressure on these points. Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds everything within your body- muscles, bones, nerves, organs and more. Fascia can harden and get stiff through overuse, stress, inactivity, or trauma. Myofascia release works to soften areas of hardened fascia to bring greater ease of movement and muscular balance.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymph stagnation and congestion results from injury, surgery, stress, diet, inactivity, auto-immune issues and age. Gentle, rhythmic hand movements activate lymph circulation which accelerate the body’s ability to absorb nutrients and remove waste and toxins. Lymphatic drainage increases blood circulation and stimulates the immune system. In addition, the body’s rest-and-digest response is stimulated, promoting relaxation and restoration. This technique is used to reduce swelling and inflammation, relieve pain and improve mobility.
Oncology Massage
Oncology massage therapy is a massage session that is adjusted for the needs of a client with cancer or with a history of cancer in order to strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and manage the side effects of treatment. Massage is a complement to the treatments and is implemented as a way of making the treatment process easier to tolerate by reducing nausea, fatigue, pain, insomnia and anxiety.
